Wendy specializes in treating a wide range of conditions including anxiety, depression, chronic pain, grief, traumatic grief, past and current trauma, and complex trauma. She uses a variety of counselling approaches including DBR (Deep Brain Reorienting), and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Wendy has found that DBR and EMDR may successfully treat conditions that regular talk therapy has been unable to address. Wendy meets her clients where they are at and collaboratively, they will come up with a treatment plan that suits their needs. That may also include bringing in cognitive behavioural, strength-based, interpersonal, and/or mindfulness models.
Wendy combines her past training and work experiences as a registered nurse and clinical social worker with psychotherapy. She assists others with emotional and psychological stressors that may play a role in the onset of burnout, chronic pain and illnesses. She has provided counselling in health care, centres, and homes for over 30 years.
Wendy holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Social Work. She is a member in good standing with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers, and with the College of Nurses of Ontario (non-practising class).
Wendy is certified as an EMDR trauma therapist. She also has advanced training in Deep Brain Reorienting.
