Land Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that the Centre for Trauma and Stress is located on the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg peoples, which includes the Chippewa, Odawa, and Potawatomi Nations. They are part of the longstanding stewardship of this land and continue to maintain deep spiritual, cultural, and relational connections to it.
We honour the enduring presence of Indigenous Peoples and their connection to this land—past, present, and future. We recognize the intergenerational strengths and traumas rooted in histories of colonization, and we commit to ongoing learning that respects and uplifts Indigenous cultures, stories, and rights.
As therapists, we hold a responsibility to understand how the impacts of colonization continue to shape mental health and well-being. We strive to reflect this understanding in our work, and support efforts toward reconciliation, healing, and decolonization in all that we do.
